Our cooperation with our supplier Lakshya in Faribad, near New Delhi, started out as a three years development project for street children. The goal was to build a production that can support an orphanage for street children.
During the project RICE donated a monthly amount of financial support, and placed orders regularly, buying their lovely bags made out of newspaper and textile, sewn together and laminated. Now the project has ended and Lakshya has become one of our regular suppliers.
The project has given a number of street children an education in tailoring and clothing, and established a production platform that can increase the future production capacity.
The establishment of Lakshya secures an education for New Delhi street children, as well as housing and the opportunity to remain in Lakshya as employees.
